Chief Financial Officer
A seasoned C-Suite and restructuring professional, Mike Massey serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Veretus. Mr. Massey serves Veretus clients by drawing upon decades of accounting, restructuring, finance, and leadership experience, including middle market business assessment and review, transaction negotiation and structuring, credit investment and underwriting, strategy development and execution, and operational cost improvement.
Mr. Massey has held several board seats and acted within the C-suite to assist management teams with business strategy and margin improving, cost-cutting measures.
Prior to Veretus, Mr. Massey served in a range of positions that afforded him a mix of relevant experiences for Veretus’s clients, including as a Senior Auditor for a Big Four accounting firm, Financial Analyst for a government sponsored entity, Partner at a private equity firm and most recently the CFO of the re-launch of a 120-year-old cigar brand. Mr. Massey draws upon these diverse experiences to provide business and client-oriented insights to Veretus clients, with an emphasis on business-oriented pragmatic solutions.
As a restructuring and investment professional, Mr. Massey has worked on over 50 middle-market transactions across industries and has a proven track record for repatriating invested capital and resolving capital structure issues. He focused largely on workout, renegotiation or amendment of commercial debt and equity instruments in high RONA, cash-flowing companies, including light manufacturing, consumer products and business services companies with revenues between $20 million to $250 million.
Mr. Massey’s efforts led to the successful turn-around of numerous companies, new investment of over $100 million in growth and distressed companies, over $10 million in improvement to operating income over multiple companies, and the repatriation of hundreds of millions of dollars from distressed assets.
Mr. Massey is a graduate of James Madison University and is a CPA (inactive).
