Arabic Linguist & Analyst
Atif Omer has experience analyzing terrorist groups in the Middle East. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Intelligence Liaison and Arabic Linguist in support of U.S. Special Operations counterterrorism missions worldwide. He was assigned to interrogation teams responsible for High Value Targets held at Camp Bucca, Iraq, including current and former members of ISIS leadership.
Mr. Omer was also part of the Joint Intelligence Group at Camp Delta, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he worked with CIA and U.S. Special Operations teams to conduct interrogations of select detainees. He participated in numerous psychological operations and human intelligence operations in Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and other countries.
While deployed in Iraq with the Navy, Mr. Omer survived a roadside bomb attack by the Shiite terrorist group Jaysh al-Mahdi.
Mr. Omer has native-level language skills in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and six regional dialects: Gulf, Iraqi, Levantine, Egyptian, Sudanese, and Yemeni.
After earning his honorable discharge in 2011, Mr. Omer continued to serve in a similar capacity with U.S. intelligence services. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, with a concentration in Homeland Security.
